What I found with the #Iditarod52 feed is that I had to manually remove posters each day that posted pěta drivel or NSFW furry art in the feed syntax.
Also, I learned to be careful with keywords. A surprising amount of mushing terms are used in the bdsm scene... :)

Apparently Dallas Seavey ran into the moose that Jessie Holmes punched. It got into his dogs and he had to shoot it. All dogs are okay (as is Dallas) but that explains his longer-than-expected trip into Finger Lake!
