The Unfinished by Cheryl Isaacs

The Unfinished by Cheryl Isaacs

Finished "The Unfinished" by Cheyl Isaacs. Great YA horror by an Indigenous author with themes of regret and vulnerability. The horror relies on atmosphere similar to the "Ring" movies & is very well done. Definitely recommend. 5 out of 5 ⭐️. 📚💙 #booksky #horrorbooks #Indigenousbooks

Angalkut/Shamans in Yup'ik Oral Tradition
transcribed and translated by Alice Rearden and Marie Meade, edited by Ann Fienup-Riordan
“Undoubtedly the finest and richest compilation of shamanic ethnographical information for Alaska. A great contribution to the preservation and transfer of Yup’ik knowledge and cosmology. The book gives precedence to the voices of the elders and their perspectives and provides access to powerful stories.”
—Frédéric Laugrand, Université Catholique de Louvain

The kickstarter is up for an anthology I'm in. My story "The Menopause Chrysalis" is featured within. It's a weird tale about a Two Spirit person dealing with menopause, the medical system, and the dream world.

voodoocactus's review of Love After the End 3/5: In the introduction, editor Joshua Whitehead says that the anthology had originally been dystopia themed but after everything (namely covid and the world being on fire), the focus was shifted to utopias. I’d say it’s still very dystopian and that makes it a bit heavy reading. There is a hopeful silver lining in each story, though. This was a mixed bunch. Some stories were very good, some would’ve needed a LOT more work. My favorites were Abacus, Andwànikàdjigan, Seed Children, and especially Eloise.

Some of these short stories were really good.
