I'm so excited! There I was, admiring a beautiful patch of lavender, when this beautiful Hummingbird Hawk Moth appeared... and stayed to feed for quite some time. It was so close to me that I could hear the hum of it's wings. Totally magical #insectoftheday #moth #moths

So today's #insectoftheday is another colourful beauty. The sun shining on it caught my attention on my allotment... it's a Common green bottle fly (Lucilia sericata) (i think.... using Obsidentify as usual)
As we lurch into day 3 of #insectoftheday, i have to report that i have just discovered that i am not the original inventor of #insectoftheday.

From my seated position on a log on my allotment, I've decided to start a daily theme of #insectoftheday (not sure how long it will last). The plan is I'll find a different critter every day and share it with you lovely people. Today (thanks to Obsidentify) I've found a Cucumber spider. A beauty.
