How might recognising our shared vulnerability allow us to build a world that is more inclusive of disability? Today, for #InternationalDayofPeoplewithDisability, we‘re featuring this essay from the archive which explores what disability can tell us about being human
Happy #InternationalDayofPeoplewithDisability (website: share.google/kFq5cpgyCuY5...). As a person with a #HiddenDisability and partners, friends and family members with various disabilities - visible, hidden or both - I can attest first hand how vitally important education, support + #DEI truly is.
Pretty much everyone in #PoveratyXmas is also disabled, so for #InternationalDayOfPeopleWithDisability #IDPwD I'll share this thread again, feel free to add your paylinks or wishlists if you're poor and/or disabled in so-called Australia
People with disabilities face barriers and challenges every day, and the more awareness, understanding and conversations we have, the closer we get to a world that is informed, inclusive and supportive for everyone.💜🧡

What a #lowstimulation & #quietroom is NOT 🧵
1 a random unoccupied room
2 for people to have meetings & phone calls!
3 just for able bodied humans
4 just for #neurodivergent humans
5 hidden away somewhere

Audre Lorde, a Black woman, standing next to a black-board which reads "Women are powerful and dangerous"
Today is #InternationalDayOfPeoplewithDisability
This is Audre Lorde - Audre was legally blind and described herself as “crazy and queer”. Her activism focussed on fighting for women who, like her, were excluded from mainstream feminism, because of class, race, sexuality, or disability.
You know what ? thing that hurt most isn't that disability but despite of that disability show Strength, unique ability, resilience and much more than a common person but still called Disable💔
