De Parmantige Paardenbloem Langs 't pad, waar wind en zonlicht spelen, Staat zij, een bloem met gouden kragen, De paardenbloem, fier en zonder klagen, Een danseres in groene velen. Haar kopje steekt parmantig op, Geen storm die haar tot buigen dwingt, Ze groet de dag, ze lacht en zingt, Een zonnetje in elke knop.
De bijen komen, zoemend zacht, Voor honingproeverij en feest, Ze is hun gastvrouw, nooit geweest Een bloem zo vrij en ongedacht. Haar blaadjes, scherp als kleine zwaarden, Bewaken trots haar gouden hart, Ze groeit waar niemand haar verwacht, Op stenen, zand, en kale gaarden. En als de lente wijkt voor tijd, Verandert zij haar gouden tooi, In pluizen wit, zo licht, zo vrij, Een wolkje in de zomertijd. De wind wordt nu haar bondgenoot, Hij tilt haar zaadjes, één voor één, Ze zweven weg, een stil refrein, Op reis naar nieuw en onbekend groot.
O parmantige paardenbloem, zo klein, Toch koningin van weide en berm, Je buigt niet voor de sterkste storm, Je blijft een symbool van puur en rein.
