Russia Test-Flies Second MC-21 Jet Built Entirely with Domestic Components
Aviation News – Russia has successfully conducted the maiden flight of the second MC-21 airliner fully equipped with domestically produced components, marking a major step toward reducing dependence on foreign suppliers amid ongoing sanctions. The flight, announced by the state-owned United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), took place in late October at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in Siberia. The MC-21 program, developed by Irkut under the UAC umbrella, aims to become Russia’s flagship medium-haul passenger jet, competing with models such as the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX.
