‘징역 17년형 확정’ 여신도 성폭행 혐의로 정명석 수감 속, JMS 이달 대규모 행사 개최  #나는신이다 #JMS #기독교선복음교회 #정명석 정명석 총재가 여성 신도 성폭행 등의 혐의로 수감된 가운데 기독교복음선교회(JMS)가 대규모 행사를 국내에서 개최했다. JMS 선교회에는 이달 17일 보도 자료를 통해 같은 달 15일과 16일 이틀간 충남 금산군에 위치한 월명동 자연성전에서 대규모 행사를 개최한 점을 알렸다.  지난 2023년 4월 22일 방송된 SBS ‘그것이 알고 싶다’에는 기독교순복음교회(JMS) 정명석 총재가 출소 이후에도 멈추지 않았던 성 추문에 대한 취재기가 공개됐다. (사진=SBS ‘그것이 알고 싶다’)  해당 자료를 통해 선교회는 2015년 3월 16일 영 휴거를 기념해 매년 이 행사를 이어오고 있으며 올해로 11주년을 맞이했다고 알렸다. 또한 선교회는 올해는 16일이 평일인 점을 고려해 학생과 직장인이 참여할 수 있도록 하루 앞당겨 진행됐다고 설명했다. 아울러 선교회는 이달 15일 진행된 주일 연합 예배에는 세계78개국에서 모인 약 5만 명이 현장에 참석했고 교리 교육을 받는 예비 교인들과 온라인 생중계를 통해 세계 수십만 명의 교인들이 함께했다고 주장했다.  이는 선교회 설립자인 정 총재가 수감 중임에도 불구하고 선교회의 교세가 여전히 건재하다는 걸 보여주기 위한 것으로 풀이된다. 넷플릭스 ‘나는 신이다 : 신이 배신한 사람들’에서 가해자로 지목된 JMS 총재 정명석은 지난 2018년 2월부터 2021년 9월까지 충남 금산 수련원에서 홍콩 및 호주 국적의 여신도들과 한국인 여신도를 총 23차례 성폭행하거나 추행한 혐의로 기소된 바 있다. 이에 정명석은 최근 재판에서 징역 17년형이 선고된 바 있다. 1945년생인 정명석은 올해 만 79세로 징역 17년형이 확정되면서 남은 생을 감옥에서 마감하게 될 전망이다.  지난해 1월 9일 대법원 2부는 준강간, 준유사강간 등으로 기소된 정명석의 상고심에서 원심을 확정했다. 정명석은 과거 여신도들을 성폭행한 혐의로 징역 10년을 선고받아 구속됐다가 2018년 2월 출소한 바 있다.  그러다 2023년 11월 검찰은 정명석에게 징역 30년을 구형했고 같은 해 12월 법원은 징역 23년을 선고했다. 이에 양측 모두 항소해 지난해 9월 검찰은 30년을 구형했지만, 같은 해 10월 2심 법원은 징역 17년을 선고했다.  해당 사건과 별개로 정명석은 JMS 수련원 약수터 물이 병을 고치는 효과가 있다며‘월명수’로 이름 지어 판매해 20억 원 상당을 벌어들인 혐의로도 재판에 넘겨졌다.
