Save big! Book your tickets as soon as available and fly ANA or JAL. Suitcase incl. and no or cheap seat reservation. Lots of legroom and great service. Book hotels right after (with canc. opt.). Better room for less
Some hotels are not yet available, but keep checking.

I kept my 100yen coins for vending machines and for a good gachapon machine I might stumble upon. I also made sure I had extra money on my pasmo card because I could use it at conbini and even coin lockers if I was running low on cash.

While you are in Daiso buying ALL THE THINGS, buy a reusable bag too. That way you can use it at the konbini when you are picking up snacks. Paying an extra 10¥ at the store each time adds up fast.

Nosy cat not included. 😁

Day 20: Money related tips

While card is becoming more accepted, cash is still king for smaller shops and stalls. I found it easiest to just withdraw money from an atm that accepts foreign card, as long as your bank isn't insane about foreign transaction fees.

Tips? Don't do it!

It still astounds me that in this land of impeccable, polite service, leaving your server a few ¥ as a 'thank you' is seen as an insult.

I love it, though sometimes I'd like to show my gratitude more than just saying arigato gozaimasu.

Two coin purses and some Japanese yen coins

My recommendation for money is to get a coin purse. You will get a lot of coins.
