Mt.Mitateyama Viewpoint in Hiroshima. I'm not sure how I came to know of this place, but it was a very easy and serene hike north of the city center that seemed very untouched by others, especially tourists. The view was a bit foggy at the top but was still very nice!

Though Hubby grew up in the big city of Nagoya, his parents now live in a rural part of Gifu. Hidden paths through the bamboo forest are easy to find if you look for them.

It's so quiet by this pond - and there are BENCHES (a rare thing in Japan - and a much-needed chance to rest your feet!).
Day 10: Hidden Spots
We visited some of the less popular shrines in Arashiyama, and while they might not be hidden they're definitely off the beaten path and much quieter! They were some of my favorite spots of the trip!

Hidden Spot
Not sure how "hidden" it is, but Shukkeien Garden in Hiroshima is worth visiting. full of koi and turtles to feed, a bamboo forest and museum plus beautiful flowers and scenery. Very peaceful.

In Osaka I found this hedgehog cafe tucked away on the 3rd floor of a building, but sadly I was too early it was closed - I was gutted! - and I never found time to go again. But I'm going to try and find it again when I'm there again in May.
