A year and a half after the July 2024 wildfire in Jasper, Canada, authors Fabian Caro and Camila Contreras trace how nature’s recovery depends on time, ecological balance, and informed stewardship.
Don’t miss their striking photos of a landscape reemerging. #JasperFire
Why does this sound familiar Berta?
#JasperFire
Create a problem that didn’t exist, then play victim & try to force everyone to apologize to them when finally caught for making said problem in the first place.
Does this tactic sound eerie familiar to anyone else?

The grandstanding and cosplay were obvious to all of us. Danielle Smith and her team prioritized political optics over effective action during the 2024 Jasper fire. That is how her friend Kristi Noem does it and she wants bragging rights. #JasperFire #AlbertaPolitics #Ableg #abpoli #DanielleSmith

9/10 The situation raises memories of last summer's devastating wildfires that impacted several Alberta communities, most notably in Jasper National Park where much of the townsite was destroyed in late July 2024.

The day Jasper burned July 2024.
Living in Calgary about 4 and a half hours southeast of Jasper.
The air was thick with smoke and ash, the smell was people's lives/homes up in flames.
The particulate ash; fell like a mid summer snowfall.

A before & after shot of the Edith Cavell trailhead in #Jasper National Park— sad to see but still thankful no one was hurt/died as a result of the #wildfire that ravaged many areas of the park & destroyed 1/3 of the townsite.

Upsides to the #jasperfire:
A. A ton of the already dead trees and underbrush are now gone. Lowering the risk of fires for some time.
B. Rising from the ashes is scientifically real. Charred vegetation is great for nutrients.
C. No one is on the trails with a portable speaker.
Rain and cooler temperatures have helped subdue the spread of a massive wildfire that consumed homes in the heart of Jasper National Park.
• Fire expected to burn for weeks
• Up to half of buildings destroyed
• Critical infrastructure saved

The #jasperfire was a warning shot from the heart of the beast.
Fossil fuel companies have funded disinformation for decades.
Forgive yourself for being duped.
Get angry.
Demand that ALL politicians hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for what they have done to our world.

This seems to be taken from the back alley looking south toward Patricia Street

Apparent maps from firefighters in #Jasper
Not as extensive as previously feared, but still very major. Seems to confirm some videos we saw of trucks driving coming from the east and showing the main streets of downtown mostly still standing
(on this map, East is on the top)

I loved Jasper, less commercialized than Banff. So crushed to see what has happened to it. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... #jasperfire
