A male Java Finch. His belly is white, with a white collar rising to nearly meet atop his head. His back, tail and wings are black. His face and head a crimson. His feet, beak and eyes are golden. You can see his tongue as he's trying to lick a crumb off his beak.
Can't find any preeners or scratchers for today's #BirdoftheDay so must do the alternate theme of #Finches. Aside from the Saffron finches, which I've posted before, these Java finches are common in #Kona. This one's sticking his tongue out 😄
