Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson's original cover art for Superman #411 (DC, 1985).

In 1985, sci-fi pioneer and long-time DC editor Julius Schwartz turned 70 years old, and, to honor him, the staff of DC Comics put out a very special issue of Superman. Done entirely behind Schwartz's back, the issue was a heartfelt tribute to "The Godfather of the Silver Age." The original cover art is signed by a virtual Who's Who of sci-fi and comics professionals. Some of the highlights include Ray Bradbury, Mark Hamill, Alan Moore, Steve Ditko, Gray Morrow, Ben Bova, Jerry and Joanne Siegel, Jack Kirby, Gil Kane, Forry Ackerman, Walt Simonson, Bob Burden, Joe Kubert, John Byrne, Curt Swan, Mike Kaluta, Jim Shooter, and dozens (maybe hundreds) more.
