2-year-old brown eastern cottontail bunny standing on dried grass. Butters was born in our yard around 7.16.2023 to mama Peanut. At the time, I thought it might have been Peanut's last litter so I named Butters after her (like I'd named Peanut after her mama Snickers) instead of a gemstone (what I'd named all the other special babies born that year...Ruby, Topaz, etc.). Butters turned out to be a very special bunny indeed and has had many injuries and health issues, but has persevered and is now thriving at 2! We call her "brave little Butters" because she usually isn't. Ha! She'll come up to me, but then run away and hide. She gets spooked by tiny baby bunnies. But, she is brave when it comes to healing and surviving. She's our sweet, anxious, and funny bunny who benefits greatly from having our yard as her sanctuary. And we love her dearly.
