Three T-38s from Amarillo skirted around the weather and did a cross-wind landing at MCI a little bit ago. I bet they had a nice view of the lightning from those cockpits

I enjoyed watching Southwest 3745 take the scenic route over western Wyandotte county after a missed approach. (left center video) Lots of dodging weather tonight, fun to watch! (for various definitions of fun)

flight path of chinook from olathe west then back

close up of tail area showing "1" in a pentagon shape indicating airframe is assigned to first infantry
There's a Chinook back in KC! The Army Reserve unit at Olathe DID deactivate, but this CH-47 is assigned to First Infantry out of Fort Riley. So that's regular Army flying around squawking VFR.

Storms approaching from the southwest made the approach pattern into MCI last night kind of interesting! My SkyCam saw Southwest 2379 making a nice U-turn as they settled into final. The headlights lit up the clouds!

screencap of a flight tracking map showing a low pass, probably a T-38, 1000 feet above ground level at 435 and Metcalf in Overland Park, KS. This is fro
Probably a T-38, don't usually see them that low over the suburbs! It just popped up on TIS-B , did a low pass over 435 and Metcalf at 320 knots, then boogeyed west and landed at Forbes in Topeka.

infographic about the UH-72A Lakota. "... Homeland Defense and Security ... reconnaissance, command and control operations ... "
The flight profile is consistent with area surveillance. The orbit pattern is centered right over the Stowers Institute at 50th and Rockhill.

Got a UH-72A Lakota helicopter orbiting the Plaza at 4500' today. Looks like Missouri Air National Guard, Company B, 1st of the 376th. Their mission is security and support. #kcplanes #adsb

a plane owned by a flight training school spelled out VOTE above the northland this morning! Kind of neat. This was not skywriting, there was no smoke trailing - just spelled out for flight trackers.
Flight was just over an hour, started at 1012.

They took off, bopped into the landing pattern at MCI, then right back home. Love it. If anyone is handing out T-38 rides please sign me up!!

FAST23, a T38 from Whiteman, takes off from MCI following a quick touch and go
United 2645 heading to Denver, showing the speed differential compared to the T-38
I-29 north of KCI got a fun show this morning as a T-38 from Whiteman did a touch-and-go and crossed the highway at 292 knots! Altitude works out to around 1500' above ground level.
The second picture shows a more typical airliner-type takeoff profile.
