House Speaker Osborne said Chief Justice Lambert had a “misunderstanding” about the judicial budget. Lambert rebuts that with a statement today that “we have no misunderstanding.” #kyga26
Big thanks to the @kylrc.bsky.social LRC message center staff for their hard work during #KYGA26. Members of Kentucky Government Retirees pummeled them with calls during the session. They were uniformly polite and helpful.
Republicans sped nearly 80 “veto-proof” bills to passage on Wednesday, including a massive Medicaid omnibus bill, though others fell just short. Here’s a look at some of the KET bills that passed, and didn’t. #kyga26

Good morning, Kentucky. It is officially the veto recess period, and two legislative days remain on the 2026 Regular Session calendar. To catch up on which bills have passed both chambers, visit the 2026 Legislative Record webpage here: apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/26rs/... #kyga26
The Kentucky General Assembly’s GOP supermajority waited until the final day before the veto period to pass a $32 billion two-year state budget and a bill spending $1.7 billion from the rainy day fund on more than 300 specific projects. #kyga26
Kentucky lawmakers passed a bill that would shrink the Jefferson County Board of Education from seven to five and create new district maps, with all five new districts having an election this year. #kyga26
From @sylviaruthg.lpm.org
Finally know what the deal is with SB 4.
No more spots appointed by the state treasurer, JCPS board would drop to five seats instead of seven, all five of those seats will be on the ballot this fall in new board districts, but then JCPS would draw their own maps in the future. #kyga26
A new version of SB 4 that Rep. Nemes just presented would reduce JCPS board members from 7 to 5, and it would require an election for all 5 seats THIS YEAR. Nemes says the new JCPS board would make their own district maps in future years. That is... a major change. #kyga26
We just had a 6-7 joke on the Kentucky House floor.

Funding for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library expected to remain intact in final #kyga26 state budget. From @weku.bsky.social
Things have really ground to a halt in Frankfort, as the House and Senate are both in a prolonged recess. House GOP leadership and budget chairs are skirting in and out of a conference room.
I don't think they've finished the budget bill yet.
12 hours to midnight and the veto period. #kyga26
The hot rumor of the day in Frankfort (and a nasty one, at that) is that legislators will go PAST MIDNIGHT tonight, as they have an extra day to meet and they can override any veto of bills on Day 60 April 15, so the bills would still be veto proof. Nasty, nasty rumor. #kyga26
A live look at me on this, the last day before the #kyga26 veto period.
In other news:
My alarm didn’t go off this morning, and I’m actively realizing I’ve put too much trust in dry shampoo for the day.
Let us pray. Under 15 hours until veto period. #kyga26
I’ll also be watching HB 759 after the piggybacking anti-trans teacher amendment firestorm over the weekend.
After I posted this last night, I was told the bill/amendment is dead. #kyga26
We also haven’t seen a final written copy of the state budget or the $800 million one-time spending plan.
All we really know is that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is safe, and I think that’s beautiful. #kyga26
The FA nixes the idea of state treasurer appointed members, instead creating an advisory cmte to help guide board financial decisions.
#kyga26
Happy Veto Period Eve to those who celebrate!
SB 1 got a floor amendment last night that would basically merge it with SB 4 — changes to how much power the JCPS super vs board has, plus new board seats boundaries.
