A bloodroot emerges from fall’s leaves. Its green leaves are still folded round the stem; its white blossom hasn’t yet opened. More bloodroots appear in the background.
Out walking with our dog, these bloodroots are among the first wild flowers I’ve seen this spring.

This was also Bernie’s first ride in the Telluride. He sat tethered in the front seat, so I could keep an eye on him. I had to pull over once, because he tried rolling in the seat and got trapped by the tether. 🙄 He was much more chill on the way home. We didn’t see much in the way of spring flowers, except for a few bloodroots, but the trillium should make an appearance soon. A bloodroot has pushed its way up through the fallen leaves, and is nearly ready to bloom. There are several more in the background.

Perfect weather for a walk on the Kal-Haven Trail. Bernie is never happy to have his picture taken; it’s much easier to photograph flowers.
