Sri Lankan Navy arrests 22 TN fishermen near Katchatheevu Chennai, Feb 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) In yet another incident highlighting the continuing tensions in the Palk Strait, the Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday arrested 22 fishermen from Tamil Nadu for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in Sri Lankan waters. Four mechanised boats used by the fishermen were also seized. According to fisheries department sources, the fishermen hailed from Rameswaram and Mandapam in Ramanathapuram district.

Sri Lankan Navy arrests 14 TN fishermen near Katchatheevu Chennai, Dec 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday arrested 14 fishermen from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu when they were fishing near Katchatheevu, and their two boats were also seized. The fishermen were nabbed early in the morning for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in Sri Lankan waters. Other fishermen who witnessed the incident reported that the Sri Lankan Navy severely attacked them, damaging their fishing nets and GPS equipment.
