A frontal view of the sistrum with Hathor painted on the front. It was made with a forked tree branch, which we sawed, sanded and painted gold. There are three wires connected to it, with some coins and soda can tops.
A side view, with the hieroglyphs of “Dua Hathor”, dua meaning “praise”
The wood had a natural eye shape on it so we made it an Eye of Horus. Also here it says “Dua Ihy”, the son of Hathor and God of music.
The sistrum sitting before my bust if Hathor, atop my boombox and in front of my cassette collection.
My wife Deborah and I worked together to make a homemade sistrum, a musical instrument used in ancient Egypt for rituals. I wrote a blog with the details of how we made it. #Hathor #Kemeticism #PaganSky #ArtSky
