I’m telling myself that either my brain is still on half-term or I deliberately lost because it’s good for the students’ well-being to beat a member of staff at Scrabble 🫣

@centreformh.bsky.social have produced another stellar publication c quantifiable data measuring the impact of complex MH conditions.
Whilst the study population is in adults, the genesis of these stories is in early childhood & adolescence.

Tough for us all right now. AD struggling, & lashing out. We feel let down by health services, we’ve had some assessments over phone, but no actual F2F support from mental health practitioners. AD won’t engage with websites & apps, we want a real diagnosis to help her. We keep looking #KidsMH
AD struggling to find her way, scared to go to bed, scared to wake up. Scared to go to school, scared not to. Scared that she might have ASD/ADHD, scared that she might not. We just want to help her to make things less scary. ASD/ADHD assessment is next #KidsMH #Anxiety #SchoolAvoidance #SchoolFear
I missed this schoolsweek.co.uk/send-pupils-... but was looking up as O was struggling with the idea of an art exam & hearing other people for many hours! Thought it may be of interest #KidsMH
Gah! Article is behind a firewall, but this is huge news! Thank you for sharing.
The recent Neighbourhood MDT guidance has the potential to do so much as well - really excited to see what the next steps are

This seems common sense, but this sort of research and data is 100% required if we are to understand the CYP MH crisis and mitigate against it.
Thanks team.

Investigative journalism article in Private Eye magazine
@privateeyenews.bsky.social looks behind the Kooth App. Kooth has become a byword for digital mental health support for 11-25s. Private Eye explores the crisis in mental health support for young people and how the private owners of Kooth coined £12.7m in 2024 (UK & US).

This blog is really interesting. The “school on fire” metaphor is particularly engaging
For us, so much of this rings true with our situation with AD - stevebheadteacher.wordpress.com/2023/08/29/s... #KidsMH #KidsAnxiety #ChildAnxiety #SchoolAnxiety
A few weeks away from social media. AD still really struggling, no school at all for 3 weeks. 1st ND assessment complete, recommends full ADHD/autism assessment. Seeking support from The Children’s Society for emotional training. Still trying to navigate through this with her #KidsMH #SchoolAnxiety
Finally some good news

Really interesting study that deserves some focus and attention. I suspect this is driving a lot of the physical health presentations we are seeing in this age group

2012-2022 saw a 65% increase in children admitted with mental health concerns.
There has been over 500% increase in admissions for CYP with eating disorders in the same time period.
This is THE health crisis of our time, and it is barely making the news.

AD was happy at the weekend, had a friend to stay. Back to school avoidance with a vengeance now, won’t engage, won’t get into a routine. Heartbreaking to not be able to help her. She started counselling again yesterday, hoping to see some progress #SchoolAnxiety #KidsMH #SchoolRefusal
Yesterday was a long night. My son (12yrs) confided in me that he tried to commit suicide. We got him to a inpatient Psych facility. He is autistic, Adhd, and battles between depression and anger problems. Any advice is welcome. #KidsMH
AD crossed the school threshold 3 times this week. 1st for our meet with head of year, then after school to spend an hour with mentor, and today for form time & first lesson. She got up & dressed at 5.30 this morning! Whatever it takes, we carry on🤞🏻 #KidsMH #SchoolAnxiety #SchoolRefusal #SmallSteps
The roller coaster continues. AD hasn’t gone to school yet this year, but has more responsive at home these last couple of days. We met her head of year today and have a gradual return plan that she’s agreed to. We’ll see how it goes, and keep encouraging her #KidsMH #SchoolFear #SchoolRefusal
Incredibly enthused that our network, which started in 2021 as a few colleagues trying to improve #KidsMH has grown to over 200 professionals across the South West.
Together we are trying to shift the dial and work for better CYP mental health

AD didn't make school at all this week, & some of her behaviour at home was a little alarming. We had a telephone consultation with local CAMHS yesterday, who are referring us for extra support. Positive start to the weekend, AD is up & has gone out for breakfast with her friends #KidsMH #SchoolFear
