A notice from the Dublin Journal of 1 August 1769. It praises Charles Hansbrow, a surgeon of Castlebar, for successfully inoculating children and others against smallpox, noting mild symptoms and the satisfaction of parents. It is dated 27 July 1769, and signed by George Rogers of Rabone / Rathone (now Rathowen) near Killala.
While researching my Rogers ancestors in Co. Mayo, Ireland, I've discovered the children in a branch of the family had a smallpox inoculation in 1769. The surgeon's name was Charles Hansbrow. Ref. Dublin Journal, 1 August 1769.
