Charybdis is one of those “personal for him” villains. He had a Bonnie and Clyde for terrorism thing going on with his wife until she died during a job. He was mutated at the same time and blames Aquaman. He’s like a stronger, smarter Killer Crock with a sadistic hate on for Aquaman. A great mid-level villain who could easily slot into any villain team (come on Lex, send him an invite to the Injustice Society).
I feel that Tempest could be the actual main character of Aquaman’s stories, especially the Atlan side of things. He’s the “chosen one” destined to do great things with his prophesied power. His origin is the same as Aquaman, just with his purple eyes connecting him to magic instead of blonde hair. He’s the prince of the Idylists (Atlantean pacifists who exiled themselves from the kingdom). Atlan eventually takes him on as an apprentice, teaching him magic and turning him into the Tempest, setting him on a path to face his monstrous uncle Slizzath and his undead army. I feel that tempest and Slizzath could easily be tied in with the Abyssal Dark (my favourite thing to blame all the similar mutations and magical stuff Atlantis has going on) with it manipulating them the same way it does anyone who taps into its power.
I just think he’s neat. He was an escaped criminal who set himself up as king of small island and Aquaman happens to wash up on shore. He could be a fun enemy for an amnesia or lost powers plot. Just some crazy guy with a sledgehammer and no morality.
The right hand to Ahk-Orrd. I could see her turning on him or taking the Mercy graves role.
