I decided to keep this hat. It’s alpaca & in 20 yrs of knitting never got around to making a black one for myself.

LECANORA - what's this.. a WARM green?! After many variegated colorways paying homage to golden summer lighting on a late afternoon lawn, or mossy lichens adorning tree bark, this colorway was inevitable! Named for a common tree lichen, Lecanora is a gilded olive tonal with warm brown undertones. It's infinitely complex and a little different on every base! Silk tends to pick up a few cooler tones, whereas non-superwash amplifies golden tan shades and a touch of pink; then it's noth8ing but moody and deep on the yak blends! I love when tonals do this - it really gives you an idea of what went into the recipe and gives each fiber such a unique appearance. (The suri, good grief, is incredible.) . Bases in photos from left to right: 2) Superwash bases: Silk Sock, Classic Fingering, Classic Sport, Classic DK, Classic Worsted 3) Non-superwash bases: Baby Suri Lace, Natural Fingering, Natural DK, Falkland DK, Natural Worsted 4) Yak Silk Fingering, Yak Silk DK

BRISK - is there anything more nostalgic than that first feeling of fall? I feel like as humans there's something so intrinsically desirable about autumn - we collectively yearn for it towards the end of summer (or all year, really) and ache for those fleeting first glimpses. Was that a crunchy leaf I just stepped on? Did that breeze have a hint of chill to it?! I wanted to capture that feeling with Brisk, of the first fallen leaves on pavement, greens becoming less dominant in foliage while the world transforms. Brisk features variegated pours of tawny brown and tan, pops of gold and orange, lichen olive, and a touch of concrete gray. It's fall in a skein. . DEW - our hazy languid summer afternoon colorway, jumping through sprinklers, the water catching the golden hour sunlight in a brilliant glow. Not the colors you think of when you hear the word "dew", but I felt this inspiration also held commonalities with the beautiful warmth summer mornings have, and how much this emanates the same visual for me! Dew is a variegated blend of grass green on cream, with splashes of ochre gold. The gold tends to break occasionally into beautiful tawny brown and magenta speckles, and makes each skein a little special! A happy accident, as I think it PERFECTLY matches the pinkish edges of the fading sun in the right-most inspiration image. . PETRICHOR - the color of the scent after rain; lush, deep, dark, gloomy, earthy, and alive. I wanted this next colorway to feel like the palette of shadow in a wet wood draped with soaking moss; light still hidden behind cloud cover just after a storm ends. Petrichor is an impossibly dark green with cool black undertones; it's a bit warmer than Basalt, and a few notches darker. It's extremely moody and beautiful, and I think would make a remarkable dark tone for colorwork in place of a true black! It runs a little lighter and bluer on the NSW bases, and I adore this effect. . Bases in photos from left to right: 2) Superwash bases: Silk Sock, Classic Fingering, Classic DK (I didn't dye up Classic Sport or Classic Worsted here to help conserve bases since they all look the same!) 3) Non-superwash bases: Baby Suri Lace, Natural Fingering, Natural DK, Falkland DK, Natural Worsted 4) Yak Silk Fingering, Yak Silk DK

FLORESCENCE - named for the process of flowering; the stored potential energy of flora within a pale green bud. I wanted this to both represent these delicate beginnings, and also emanate the soft glowy tufts that begin adorning the tops of trees as leaves begin to grow, giving our landscape the gentlest haze of greens! Florescense is a variegated blend of pale pistachio, dewy sage, and buttery yellow with a touch of a cream base. It leans a touch cooler on the NSW bases, and appears like the most gorgeous glow on the yak! . FALSE SPRING - those first magical snowdrop blooms, poking out of damp frozen earth through snow and icy mist, poured onto wool. There's something so elusive about these flowers, being that their early appearance offers a glimmer into the season to come while it feels yet so distant. False Spring features a variegated blend of snowy cream and icy blue-gray, with layers of chocolate-toned charcoal and cool green. Superwash skeins offer a deeper range of contrast, while non-superwash skeins give you a gorgeous dye break of buttery yellow along the edges of green like a promise of warmer weather (and I LOVE this)! I can't get out of my mind what I see on the yak blends: rainy spring pavement. It's gorgeous! . The Ephemeral collection is inspired by our collective, intangible feelings and moments in time experienced over the course of a year. The pre-order opens Sunday, March 23rd at 7p ET and will be open a full week or until capacity is met for an 8 week production timeline, shipping 5/30.
