For the past 10 yrs I have trained students and collected mark-recap data from non-breeding birds at #konza. Today we pulled up stakes… removed as much evidence this ever happened as possible. Bittersweet. Nature gave me this gift.

First, the science. We studied Grasshopper Sparrows at the #konza #prairie in NE Kansas. As part of bigger effort, a few generations of grad students and techs (& me!) searched for nests of this sneaky species--very hard to find, BTW! But between 2014-2019, we found 240 still at egg stage
