The cult town Florida history tried to forget
The cult town Florida history tried to forget Step into a world where science was rewritten, the sky was upside down, and a group of utopian believers built their own universe—literally. In the swamps of Estero, Florida, a 19th-century religious movement known as the Koreshan Unity founded a community based on an unshakable belief: that we live inside the Earth. Not on it—inside it. This isn’t science fiction. This is The Cellular Cosmogony, a theory dreamt up by Cyrus Teed (a.k.a. Koresh), who claimed divine revelation and sought to prove that all life existed inside a hollow sphere. His followers fled persecution, turned their backs on mainstream science, and created their own self-contained world in the Florida wilderness. In this video, I take you deep inside the now-preserved Koreshan State Park, where remnants of their utopia still stand—and so do the questions. Who were these people? What did they believe? And why has history all but buried them? This is one of the strangest places in Florida. And that’s saying something. #estero #koreshanstatepark 🌐 GALLIVANTER WEBSITE/BLOG. http://chadgallivanter.com 📱 SOCIAL. A Novel Idea: Cult Following by J.W. Ocker
A Novel Idea: Cult Following by J.W. Ocker Host Noelle Boc has a fascinating conversation with author J.W. Ocker about his book that delves into how smart, normal people can end up enmeshed in extreme cults. He works to answer that question in his book with examples of the most infamous and dangerous cults in history. These include: Branch Davidians: Led by David Koresh, this cult was waiting out the apocalypse in 1993 when the FBI infamously raided their compound in Waco, Texas. Narcosatanists: This cult of drug traffickers in 1980s Mexico was led by Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo, who believed he had magic powers and committed human sacrifice. Brotherhood of the Seven Rays: The earliest known UFO cult, the infiltration and study of the Brotherhood by psychologists inspired the term “cognitive dissonance.” Ho No Hana Sanpogyo: The founder, Hogen Fukunaga, claimed to be able to tell someone’s fortune by examining their feet. Breatherianism: Breatherians believe that humans can live on air alone. Their founder, Wiley Brooks, claimed to have gone without food for nineteen years. NXIVM: This twenty-first century cult attracted several members of Hollywood and engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, and racketeering under the guise of personal development seminars.

Exploring The Weirdest Cult You've Never Heard Of
Exploring The Weirdest Cult You've Never Heard Of Today I explored one of the strangest pieces of Florida history - the Koreshan Unity Settlement, now preserved as Koreshan State Park. This wasn't just your average utopian commune... these folks believed we live inside the Earth. Yep, hollow Earth theory, celibacy, and a self-proclaimed messiah named Cyrus Teed - it's wild. Join me as I walk through the preserved buildings, talk about the group's beliefs, and dig into how this cult-like group ended up right here in Estero, Florida. The vibes are equal parts peaceful and eerie, and the history is fascinating. 🌴 Subscribe for more offbeat Florida adventures, weird history, and budget-friendly travel ideas! 🔥 Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE for more epic travel content! 🔥 🎬 Watch my other videos : 📺 1. #koreshanity I finally found my favorite pseudoscience and religion. This is an outwards take on the reality that the Earth is actually the shell of the universe and everything else above it is really just discs and super batteries.
