This is what I was talking about during my keynote at @lilacconf.bsky.social #LILAC25 last week for all those who asked, what can they do and how to be involved in challenging the way big tech shape oir worlds ✨️🤘
I posted last week about the #LILAC25 information literacy award runner up, @sheilawebber.bsky.social reminded me that the 2025 winner, Reecca Mogg is ALSO an alumni of the MA Librarianship programme! Congratualtions Rebecca!
Now that #lilac25 is done I can start thinking about my new role with @jinfolit.bsky.social, I'm taking over as Managing Editor! This is a HUGE transition for me, which may take some getting used to. But I have ideas and plans and schemes and it's going to be FUN I PROMISE.
Thank you @lilacconf.bsky.social for inviting us to be a sponsor of #LILAC25. One of the best conferences we have been to and loved the location!

If you were fired up after hearing @elinorcarmi.bsky.social’s keynote about the nefarious #TechBros at #LILAC25, you will want to read this piece in @theguardian.com / Observer by @carolecadwalla.bsky.social about the ‘broligarchy’. #CriticalThinking #Librarians #Technology #DataLiteracy

First morning home after a brilliant #LILAC25.
Had a great time learning, talking and reflecting. Thanks to @lilacconf.bsky.social for a cracking job organizing the conference, @cardiffunilib.bsky.social for hosting and all the facilities and catering staff for looking after all of us 💛
Over the years I’ve created many conference reading lists, but this is definitely my first conference playlist! I’ve been singing Wilson Phillips on repeat for 3 days now 🎤🎵 #LILAC25
Heard Bon Jovi and Irene Cara in a keynote. Had drinks and canapes in a beautiful museum. Got drowned on the way to a night of fun and frolics at the Conference dinner and all in the company of colleagues I don't see as much as I'd like. Good times all round 🩵☺️☺️ #LILAC25
My 1st ever #LILAC25 was all kinds of extraordinary Met some amazing people (@annahhackett.bsky.social, Gillian, Charity, Amelia, Nuala, Jess). Attended some phenomenal talks - stands out being Punk Pedagogy, The Great Puzzle Quest, supporting international students and autism in the workplace ...
What a fascinating presentation to end #LILAC25 with. The Libfest idea and stretching beyond the typical boundaries of the Library is one I am so keen to explore, especially as we don't have a Library space at our campus. I also loved the cross collaboration with the Student Union too.
I've had the utter joy of getting to know Gillian over the last few days, and to see what a fantastic speaker she is just left me in awe. The parallels between our university campuses were also scarily similar and I'm really looking forward to talking more about this research's potential. #LILAC25
The power of data security in context is so strong when it is brought to the masses in formats like TV series - mentions for the Post Office scandal and Netflix's Adolescence. #LILAC25
Such a powerful visual - it's not often you see all of these national and local newspapers come together in this way. #LILAC25
I could have listened to @elinorcarmi.bsky.social talk all day! Such power and passion in everything she said, especially in relation to data literacy and 'educating' those who may not understand. I came out feeling so inspired and have so many ideas to share with our Digital Skills Team! #LILAC25

Just remembered that we decided a @lilacconf.bsky.social keynote for 2026 should be @bookelf.bsky.social teaching us all to dance to Proud Mary, in preparation for the conference dinner. You're welcome, programming committee! #LILAC25
I had a wonderful time at #LILAC25! I learned so much from all the wonderful presentations AND got to meet so many lovely people. @elinorcarmi.bsky.social was right: lilac has a kinder vibe than other conferences. Fingers crossed I get to attend again soon! ❤️ to all and THANK YOU to the organizers!!
I had an amazing time at #LILAC25 learning about the latest research and practice in information literacy. Beyond excited to be welcoming the 2026 conference to the home of the information school in the Wave at the University of Sheffield
Well done to the amazing #lilac25 team - such a fantastic conference. I am leaving inspired and enthused! I particularly enjoyed the fabulous keynotes of @jsecker.bsky.social and @elinorcarmi.bsky.social and hearing about the brilliant work of @bookelf.bsky.social researching the impact of LILAC

The phrase “everyone needs an Alison in their life” (educational, supervisional, or just in their general sphere), said during the #LILAC25 conference, comes to mind when reading this article.
Proud supervisee over here! @alisonhicks0.bsky.social
