Yesterday’s #LSUsciencecafe was from Dr. Crystal Johnson who
discussed Vibrio bacteria 🦠 and it’s impact on oysters 🦪 (see image and alt text above) - and I just read about two people who died yesterday from eating infested oysters. She’s saving lives!

I’m the host of @lsu.bsky.social #LSUsciencecafe and it is one of my favorite things I do. We have LSU researchers speak to the general public to talk about their work. It’s not just great for the attendees but #scicomm practice for the speakers discussing their work in broad and approachable terms.

Enjoyed hosting @lsu.bsky.social #LSUsciencecafe with speaker Dr. Garrett Hopper who spoke about freshwater mussel diversity and conservation in Louisiana. These filter feeding friends trick fishes into hosting the development of their larvae on their gills. His website … www.lsu.edu/agriculture/...

Such a nice job by @tropicalbotany.bsky.social presenting this month’s #LSUsciencecafe it was a packed house and besides lots of cool facts about botanizing in the Andes, Laura made a compelling argument to #savetheNSF and reaching out to your representatives to stop this grant freeze
