Frank Jenkins, Jr. Fellowship in Labor Studies
Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students
The Frank Jenkins, Jr. Fellowship in Labor Studies honors and preserves Jenkins’ lifelong commitment to the causes of social and economic justice by providing financial support for undergraduate and/or graduate students at the University of Washington. The award provides $6,000 in financial support, split over two years, to students who demonstrate commitment to the principles of justice, equality, and diversity.
Gundlach Scholarship in Labor Studies
Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students
The Gundlach Scholarship provides $5,500 in financial support to an undergraduate or graduate student who exhibits a strong commitment to Labor Studies. Created by the estate of Jean Gundlach, a long-time labor activist and secretary for the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), this scholarship honors the memory of Jean and her siblings Wilford, Ralph and Betty, all of whom were UW alumni.
Kennedy Drayton Scholarship in Labor Studies
Eligibility: Undergraduate students
Ian Kennedy and Michele Drayton, both former officials and rank and file members of Seattle’s ILWU Local 52, created this scholarship in 2018 to advance their deeply held commitment to education and organized labor. The award provides $2,500 a year in financial support (renewable for a second year for a total of $5,000) to undergraduate students with financial need who demonstrate commitment to the principles of justice, equality, and diversity.
