π’CALL FOR COLLABORATIONπ’
My PhD student Warre is looking for flies infected with #Laboulbeniales fungi. Especially Musca domestica!
If you have any, store in 96% ethanol or in the freezer, record on @inaturalist.bsky.social, and/or contact Warre.

Awesome! Its so cool going back over your beetle photos looking for #Laboulbeniales. Definitely not so cool for the beetles in said photos tho! They are easy to miss the first time you look at your photos. Lady beetles are 100% a great place to start looking
So far, we found 16 insects with #Laboulbeniales ectoparasitic microfungi, out of 361 screened ones β marking a prevalence of 4.4%. Not bad at all! Go #TeamLaboul! @taxonexpeditions.bsky.social
I am working with #citizenscientists this weekend in the @taxonexpeditions.bsky.social entomological collection, to screen insects for the presence of ectoparasitic microfungi. This project is supported by @msafungi.bsky.social. #TeamLaboul #Laboulbeniales
Polina Mironova, PhD student at Purdue University studying #Laboulbeniales, came to visit our group in Ghent this week! From left to right: me, Polina, incoming PhD student Brianna Santamaria, PhD student AimΓ©e Blondelle, and Master student RenΔrs GΕ«ts. #TeamLaboul
My colleague Dr. Iva NjunjΓc from @taxonexpeditions.bsky.social visited my lab past week with cave beetles collected this summer during her #NationalGeographic funded project. They turned out to be infected with undescribed parasitic microfungi! β¨ #newspecies #Laboulbeniales #TeamLaboul

Itβs finally ladybird move in day here in NY. Approximately 150 have moved in for the winter so far, but only one showing signs of Hesperomyces. We typically see more and more infections over the next few weeks. #TeamLabouls #Laboulbeniales
Glad to have been in DrΓΈbak, #Norway to teach during the workshop on #Laboulbeniales. This was funded through an #Artsdatabanken project, which will hopefully see a continuation.
Preparing my introductory PPT while on my way to DrΓΈbak, Norway to teach a workshop on #Laboulbeniales together with my PhD student Warre Van Caenegem and Dr. Vladimir Gusarov from @uio.no. Funded by #Artsdatabanken. www.forbio.uio.no/events/cours... @prfju.bsky.social #TeamLaboul

Also Pselaphinae can be infected with #Laboulbeniales. Super interesting species!
This super early attendee was EnikΕ Csata, by the way! Happy that we had the opportunity to discuss #Laboulbeniales research. #TeamLaboul
YES, a reference to #Laboulbeniales! Thank you @ukladybirds.bsky.social πππ #C4inV4
Some #Laboulbeniales infections can be seen with the naked eye, like this one on a cave beetle! The long and blackish structures on the back of this Aphaenops beetle are thalli of Rhachomyces. #mycosky #LFEE #teamlaboul
First lab paper was published today!! Two new species of ladybird-associated #Laboulbeniales from Algeria and Malaysia. Congratulations Warre! doi.org/10.1007/s115... #newPI #TeamLaboul
