Ladies of Llangollen wearing long black dresses and black top hats.
Eleanor and Sarah were two women in love who lived together for over 50 years. They ran away from their homes in Ireland to live together in North Wales.
They lived in Llangollen, and made a beautiful home called Plas Newydd. Their home has lots of tourists still come to visit. Their house was made beautiful with wood carvings and bright glass windows.
Many famous people visited them, like writers and important leaders of the time. People believe they loved each other very much, and their story shows that love is important.
Today we are highlighting the Ladies of Llangollen, two famously lesbian women who weren't out in the time they were alive. Their home is still open to visit today, a North Wales attraction that we see as a must! #LGBTHistoryMonth #LadiesOfLlangollen
