If you want to say Welby cleaned up Carey’s mess that Williams had left him, and which Welby’s team made worse days before #LambethConference, fine. But let’s not erase the people who first did this work, the Lambeth 1998 group on human sexuality.
Stories like this one from #LambethConference are in error. This “compromise” is what LGBT friendly churches have long advocated. And it was first proposed at Lambeth 1998.

I’m troubled by something happening in the #Episcopal Church that might interest followers of the #LambethConference hashtag. Our church is receiving clergy from ACNA and other breakaway churches back into our church as priests, and, well, it raises questions. 1/

I am seeing Christopher Wells listed as the "incoming Director of Unity, Faith and Order, Anglican Communion" in photos from the #LambethConference. So either I have missed an announcement, or they have broken this news in photo captions.
A challenge TEC bishops will face on returning from the #LambethConference is explaining why it benefits people who weren’t there, and why these benefits are worth the pain and anxiety big Anglican meetings invariably cause for LGBT people.
It can be argued that the #LambethConference and Primates Meetings work against such relationships by forcing high-profile position-taking, thus making it impossible for dioceses that want to work together despite differences to fly beneath the radar.
Much of the conversation from official sources at the #LambethConference goes on as though companion dioceses that differ with one another on human sexuality haven’t been working together for decades.
I am open to having someone explain to me why LGBT people should believe various churches at the #LambethConference love them when they would deny them the pleasures and consolations of sexual intimacy and the privileges and protections of marriage, ... 1/2
