...Right now, I'm leaning toward alien creepiness factors, like these double-jawed, giant lampreys, the kinds of things that gave HP Lovecraft and RE Howard inspiration, and create the impression that #Lashunta (or Humans) are not quite so dominant on their planet as they would like to believe.

The thriae’s gemlike eyes swerve upon me, and their antennae. I also witted more coming from inside. Yet the two nearest bee-wives strode near with a wariness that betold them as warriors. I reckoned the others warriors as well, all but the one sitting under the eave, who held a worksomely wrought wand. Against their eldritch mindfulness I fought shyness. Then I left Aeosel with Remaue and Kaure, squeezed my wifemate’s hands, and strode forth. With a bow I clasped bosom. ~O’omoni-Sonni heshya-ruelve,~ - “For Son’s sake I would serve,” and forespoke that under our truce I would forsake all feuds.

Anon a buzz, and yet more manifold as if it might be a word, rang from the shape under the eave. In answer, the gainstanding warrior-thriae loosened and withdrew. The sitting bee-wife raised her wand and a free hand (leaving two still). Then she highly said: ~Romi o lashunte soarye,~ - “Let the lashunta near.”

I strode up the eavestair and stood sharp before the lady-seer, who looked rather like the warrior bee-wives, but for the wand, and maybe her antennae slightly longer. Yet I took hap to get my first near look. Her stinger-bulb oddly made a backpillow, propping her upright. I witted her fingers and feet were more clawlike, afitting bug-kind. Yet her hide, even of underlocking shelldishes, looked soft, which I would reckfully touch. Anon, a drive to kiss her soft lips elvenwise took me, though I shamefully withheld and bowed neck.

Then her mind spoke straight to mine: “You are the warrior who saved the lorewarden whomwith we already spoke,” she outthought (which words were not rightly Lashunta or anything else, but whose meaningfulness sprang into my brain). I touched bosom and answered: ~O’yaoma-mi vei,~ - “Along with my flag.”

Whether the thriae heeded my word I know not, for her thought akept: “And you will go to the far world.” Her word befuddled me, forwhy I wondered whether Lady Eieshiel or Lady-Captain had already told the farfetch...

~Zheieve~ - the Knightly Outriders whose order originated in Qabarat and organizational backbone of Lashunta armies. I have to admit it's one of my favorite words within my Lashunta Conlang.

First detail in this pic: something recently died, as evidenced by the wings under the steed's claws. Maybe prey from a hunt, or maybe a monster threat this Outrider was sent to neutralize. More interestingly, how did they take out an aerial foe?

This steed-beast looks a little large to be a Shotalashu, which I've envisioned to be roughly horse size ( a little shorter, but also a little longer). Could it be something else? A sauroid version of a heavey battle tank, compared to the Shotalashu's lighter cavalry?

The saddle is a curious design, almost like an elongated seat to prop the legs while leaning into a chairback. Built to take naps in mid-travel??

I like the fact that she's not dressed in Barsoomian bangles. Her upper body bears the impression of serious, professional armor, although I wouldn't mind seeing more on her legs, since it's the most likely target for a foe standing on the ground.

Lashunta Word of the Week
Thali (/θaːli./; spiritual): fate, doom; cosmic balance
Lashunta have a relatively karmic perception of fate. It is not absolute or fully preordained. Yet one’s deeds, whether good or bad, come back, either directly to the doer or to their kin and household. They believe this holds true not only on a social level, but spiritually as well. Right and good deeds not only improve one’s reputation while benefiting house, city, and society, but also draw goodwill from the gods (Noa), and beneficial spirits like the ~Samaea~ (Graces) and the ~Yezaea~ (Muses). Very much ‘As ye sow, so shall ye reap.’ outlook.
This word factored in today’s Chapter 27 within a fairly common phrase: ~Yei o’thali-shei,~ - “As/thus under fate/doom,” within the Upper-Yaro dialect used by Lady Vaeol our narrator, who utters it to accept Captain Dosuaesh’s new mission to ~Qolaryon~ - Golarion. Kaure also uses a related word when she says: ~Aethaldi,~ - “It was ere fated.”
~Thali~ is an archaic word from the Age of the Sage-Queens, preserved via academics. Yaro-Shattersea Lashunta preserves a more colloquial form as a doublet: ~Thaul~ - meaning an omen, harbinger, or foreshadowing.
