Raphael's father passed away before he left home on an adventure. He would be hesitant, but would still support Raphael, being an adventurer himself.
His mother would reject the idea outright. Not because she doesn't believe in him, but more of wanting his baby boy to be safe.

At first, in his teenage years, Raphael only fought if he had no other choice. Over time, his viewpoint of combat changed, becoming a part of his identity. A way to express himself. In the early 20s, Raphael enjoys combat, but has slowed down in recent years.

For Raphael, living peacefully, retired of adventuring by running his own business. However, it's just wishful thinking. In reality, he sees himself helping others while struggling with his own issues until he eventually passes away. Being a guardian angel of sorts.

In his late teenage early adult years, Raphael was a scrapper. He loves to fight and resolve issues through said fights. Nowadays, Raphael has more self-control. Yes, he'll still ask those he meets to a sparring, but only those he deems worthy. After all, quality over quantity.

Anything over 37C is too hot for Raphael.
It doesn't help that he tends to wear a lot of layers. The beach is fine, considering he grew up near the sea, but anywhere like a volcano or a heatwave is a no-go for him.

Raphael plans things in a slow methodical pace that greatly benefits him. However, he isn't perfect and plans can go awry. In those scenarios, he improvises. To him, having an plan, even if it's bad is better than no plan at all.

Long story short, Raphael lost his left eye and jabbed a green gem into said eye to stay alive. Restored his sight but released a spirit that turns out to be Rieko. Green eyes helps with aether.

Rieko can be quiet when speaking. Sometimes people don't hear what she says under her breath. Only under heavy emotions does her voice raise.
Raphael is naturally loud, due to his father, but is much quieter during somber moments.

Both Raphael & Rieko prefer showers. Occasionally, they will spend some of their nights on an onsen (indoor or outdoors), but for everyday needs, a shower is a way to go.

I've brought this up a couple of times, but my IRL roommate also plays XIV. Her character is a Xaela Au Ra named Draconis Firebane. He plays a healthy part at the start of Raphael's journey in Eorzea up to Tuliyollal. There is a strong connection between both. More of a bromance tbh.

Raphael is not very vocal, often just making grunts and moans. He will tease their partner if they ask for it.
Rieko starts off quiet, but gets louder, vulgar & direct the more she is aroused. A lot of expletives. If she's with her husband, she will cry out his name.
