I finished it to the point where I installed strings and played it a bit.
The octave at the 12th fret is all good (my last major worry).
It looks done but I’m going to take a rasp to the neck and round it more before calling it done.

All better now.
I fixed my screwup.
I had sanded through the outer ring of the rosette.
Only took 3 days…

AAAHHHHH!
Totally blew it!
I was trying to clean up the rosette and got too aggressive.
I sanded through the outer ring.
🤬
Going to have to do something radical to fix it.

And now there are frets.
I used a fret press in my drill press for most of them except the ones that will go over the body of the guitar.
I had made the 2 file holders previously, 1-90 degrees, 1-at a bevel.
Lots of filing. They’re level.

Working on the neck.
I talked myself into doing inlay for the fret position markers.
I would have had to somehow replace the fingerboard if I screwed this up.
It went ok.

I did the scary part.
I used a router to cut the mortise in the guitar body and the tenon on the neck.
I must be living right because it fits flush on each side with zero adjustment. 😮
Built a cradle to hold it steady.

Finally got back to it.
Added the binding on the top and cut the fingerboard to final length.

Update:
I cut the fret slots on the fingerboard.

The bridge is just sitting there.
I added carbon fiber strips to the headstock in the hope it will strengthen the scarf joint. It just made me nervous.
I also duplicated the laminated neck and made a veneer to pretty up the back of the headstock.

Guitar build update
After attaching the top I did the scary part where I used the flush trim router to bring it flush with the sides. No tear out so yay!
Next is setting the neck angle and cutting the mortise and tenon. Another scary part.
More work on my 2nd guitar.
Adding the rosette before I can do the bracing. Also added the back wedge which conveniently hide the gap where the sides meet.

Making slow progress on guitar number 2.
The back thickness is where I want it and just glued in the spine support.
