I’m so grateful for the opportunity today to talk about my views/experiences of #suicidal crisis. So it seemed apt to share this poem I wrote at a service held at an #IASP World Conference. There were dream catchers decorating the sky above where we sat. It’s called #Hope #MHAW21
It’s been a day of tears & I was able to be with that. I didn’t medicate or cut or starve it away ... for today. With the right #support I’m learning new ways. Gentler ways. This poem reflects the messy journey of healing from #trauma & the power of love. Remembering hope #MHAW21

2018👇🏼a short time into recovery after 8 yrs v unwell. @garym213 & I weren’t yet reconciled after 5 yrs separated. I long to be in these mountains again with my big bro. I was 21 when his only wish was I didn’t try to end my life again. I need to remember #gratitude #hope #MHAW21

I want to acknowledge the heartache my husband, children & family experienced due to my “mental illness”. Although I now see trauma not ‘disorder’, they too lost me & so much in many ways. We can’t forget #Carers #Supporters. It’s not an individual issue #Coproduction #MHAW21
I try to be constructive in my tweets yet I’m struggling with #MHAW21. Finding life beyond my many labels, #healing, there’s a growing awareness of what has been lost & it feels bottomless. #Grateful for a beautiful walk with a friend who #sees & doesn’t try to fix the pain💙
The mortality gap for people with #SeriousMentalIllness is approx 15-20 yrs less than the general population. Why is there not a public outcry? Where are these voices? Challenging #attitudes & #stigma doesn’t happen when the issues/reality don’t ‘fit’ glossy campaigns #MHAW21
