Before it was a park, Harriet Island was Wakan Wita—sacred Dakota ground mistranslated as "Devil’s Island." From Dr. Ohage’s 1900 "Sanitary Sanctuary" to the 1949 project that made it an island in name only, explore the site’s arc to today.

Rochester developer looks to rehab former Kasson school building A developer has entered into a purchase agreement to rehabilitate the historic 1918 building while a volunteer group looks for help maintianing it in the meantime.
