Sometimes making change requires speaking up even when it’s difficult. There are so many things that we do in our jobs that help neither teachers nor their students. If we are going to #MakeTeachingSustainable, then we have to stop being people pleasers, and say what needs to be said.

School doesn't always have to be fun. In fact, I'd argue that the pressure to make school "fun" all the time is unsustainable. #MakeTeachingSustainable
Niceness isn't working. We have to start being direct and assertive when we see bad practice in schools--or when we see folks promoting bad education policy. There's too much on the line--and we can't afford to be nice anymore. #MakeTeachingSustainable
For whatever reason, we've come to see individualized learning as the gold standard. But if we have strong whole-group instruction, universally designed with varied access points for learners, it's not only great for kids--it's SUSTAINABLE. #MakeTeachingSustainable

It's not easy to let go in the classroom. The metrics by which we are measured are constantly encouraging us to control and predict outcomes of learning. What is one thing you can let go of to #MakeTeachingSustainable? #teachersfollowteachers #teachersofinstagram
Teachers need agency to #MakeTeachingSustainable. But this doesn’t mean ignoring research-based practices because they’re non-preferred or too much work. It means making time for best practices but cutting out practices that are serving neither teachers nor students.
You asked for my perspective, and I already gave it. As a teacher, I do not have extra time, and I have to prioritize what gets done in order to #MakeTeachingSustainable for me.
