Philippines finds new gas field east of Malampaya, says Marcos President Marcos announced a major natural gas discovery east of the Malampaya field — the first in over a decade — as the country looks to secure long-term energy supply.

The find comes as the #Malampaya gas field — the country’s only producing offshore gas facility — is expected to run dry within a few years. But the new natural gas field's volume is enough to supply power to about 5.7 million homes for a year, Marcos said.
