Director Asato's first feature film. I thought it would be a fun film about female ninjas but was pleasantly surprised by the darker tones. Excellent talk between the director and her college superviser included in the extras.

Under Your Bed (2019) Mari Asato
Different from the other films I've seen by this director. A brutally grim psychological thriller with some very unpleasant scenes of domestic violence. Uncomfortable but rewarding. Also watched the South Korean re-make from 2023 but prefered the film by #MariAsato.

Jigoku kozô (2004) d. Mari Asato
aka The Boy from Hell
One of the director's early films. Part of Manga artist Hideshi Hino's Theater of Horror series and it's wonderful! Replete with comic book gore and some truly Hellish scenes.
