Gonna have to leave #Mars2020LSW because I have family obligations, and won't be in the room for the vote tomorrow. Make a good choice, Mars community! (What's my choice? I don't know!! This is hard.)

Man, Matt Golombek just delivered a kick to the shins to all the grad students and postdocs in the room #Mars2020LSW
(Grad students and postdocs do have "real jobs", Matt)

In answer to questions about the shirt I’m wearing at #Mars2020LSW, here it is, along with JPL’s Bill Abbey modeling the shirt’s inspiration. #CuriosityShotFirst
(Corrigendum to prev tweet to fix name)

For love of Spirit, people, when you are asked to introduce yourselves before asking a question at a meeting say your name clearly so people who don’t know you can find out your name. Why does this need to be said? #Mars2020LSW

Also nobody tell Jack I said this (lol) but he sounds more like Jim Head giving a lecture every year #Mars2020LSW

I think Mustard's takeaway message is that the Midway-to-Jezero landing site option for #Mars2020LSW is an opportunity to investigate a large, ancient fluvial system on Mars from source (Midway) to sink (Jezero crater and its delta).

Good morning from #Mars2020LSW. Jack Mustard is hitting my brain with too much science on Jezero crater this morning. Need more coffee!

This afternoon we're hearing all about the Gusev site. Tomorrow it'll be the Jezero/Syrtis sites, which are all clustered close together just west of Isidis crater. #Mars2020LSW

At issue at #Mars2020LSW: Return to Gusev crater, which we've already reconnoitered, or go to a new site (Jezero crater or Northeast Syrtis or a spot in between named Midway)? It's going to be a really tough decision. Engineers say they can go to any of them.

The current talk is by @minwadhwa and it'a amazing just to see her standing on a stage after all she's been through. Yay Mini!!!! #Mars2020LSW

Ken Farley stands up and kind of throws down the gauntlet at scientists, saying (I'm paraphrasing, not quoting) that the real limitation of what Mars 2020 accomplishes will be science team discipline to get to the interesting sites. #Mars2020LSW

Yet Matt Wallace stands up and -- in a cautious engineery way -- say that Mars 2020 should indeed expect to last a really long time. #Mars2020LSW

A fair amount of snark at the #Mars2020LSW directed at Curiosity for not having gotten to the clay minerals seen from orbit at its landing site yet. A fair amount of (over?)confidence from scientists that Mars2020 will last as long.

Early message from #Mars2020LSW: best locations to look for likely prebiotic chemistry on Mars (closed drying arid crater lakes) are not = to best places to look for preserved life (silica rich hydrothermal environments).

The Mars 2020 team brought props. This wheel has been through miles and miles of terrain in the testbed and no punctures and no shredding. It’s heavy though. #Mars2020LSW
