Telescopic view of a close conjunction of Mars (redder) and Saturn (yellower) in the constellation Capricornus on April 4th. Numerous fainter stars are visible in the background. Saturn's moon Titan is also visible very close to Saturn. The planets are separated by less than the apparent width of a Full Moon.

A composite image showcasing the apparent movement of Mars and Saturn against the backdrop of the Milky Way from mid-December 2015 to early 2016. Mars' path is a wider, S-shape, while Saturn's is a tighter loop. This apparent retrograde motion is due to Earth's orbital movement. Near Antares and the Milky Way's central bulge.
