Close up photo of an in process lino cut, which is an elaborate pattern of medieval leaves.
Making my life harder but also more fun. I find the quiet process of cutting plates soothing.

A drawing of a new cryptid. The beast below. A deep gash in a road, chunks of pavement peaking out. Many hands, with too many fingers, on arms that are also too many hands, push outwards. Two white eyes peer up.
Dropping a new cryptid this weekend. Be the change you want to see.

Black denim patches with white printed designs featuring a crow holding a diamond necklace, a screaming opossum with a sword, and a rat frolicking with an acorn.
Denim test on the lino prints is...mixed. A lot of the detail is lost in the process. I think the rat is the most successful, and the pigeons are way too delicate to even try.
If I make patches, I think I have to carve blocks just for that.

Pen drawings of two swords. On the left, a shortened Zweihänder with a line of parrying hooks on either side of the blade. At the hilt are architectural dogtooth carvings. On the right, a basket handled rapier, the flourishes of the guards are catspaws with claws outstretched.
Day 8 / 9 - canine / feline
The Dogtooth, a bastardized zweihänder, its weight bites deep.
The Catspaw Rapier. A swift turn in a clash will claw your opponent.
#swordtember #MarteaniArt
Black pen drawing of a two-pronged great sword meant to resemble the quartz oscillator of a quartz clock.
Day 7 - clock
The quartz great sword.
#swordtember #MarteaniArt
A black and grey pen drawing of a Roman gladius whose blade is a Petoskey stone, a kind of hexagonal fossil pattern made from coral.
Day 6 - fossil
Petoskey, the coral sword. Dredged from the ice sheets of northern waters.
#swordtember #MarteaniArt
A black pen drawing of a curved sword, a spiked central ring connecting the blade and handle. In sits a round bell. Three chimes hang off the pommel.
Day 5 - Bell
The black chime. Well used, it sings as it dances across battle.
#swordtember #MarteaniArt
Black ink drawing of a sword with a guard of twisted yellow horns, the long blade scalloped at the end. At its center sit a line of slowly closing goat's eyes.

A sketchbook with a black ink drawing of a longsword sword covered in shells and barnacles, the remnants of a red strap around its grip. It reads "the salt blade." A .25 Comic pen and a red LePen next to it. These are my tools in case anyone is curious.
Let's see how long I can keep this up. little drawings, every day. #swordtember #MarteaniArt
Day 1 - shell.
The salt blade, a forgotten sword that bludgeons as much as it cuts.
Uncut red lino with a pencil and ink drawing of a vampire holding a heart above her head and squeezing the blood into her mouth.
Here's a preview of the huge print in trying to speed run. #linoprint #MarteaniArt
A worn worktable with two black lino prints. These are of the pigeon basilisk, or "Trashilisk," on a flame orange paper with gold and black marbeling.
We're deep into the final Trashilisk prints. These will be available next month at Marketplace of the Beast.

Three pigeon vermin totems. They are black linoprints of a dying pigeon on white playing cards.
First round look pretty good given that they're done on spray painted playing cards. #linoprint #MarteaniArt
A row of small linocuts depicting, from left to right, a screaming opossum, a curious rat, a dying pigeon, and an extravagant crow. Alongside are a registration jig, a bag of playing cards, a palette spatula, and my pasty white hand holding a jar of speedball professional supergraphic black.
Print time! I'm using a new ink recommended by the guy at the art store. Hopefully an easier cleaning up process than the Caligo. #Linoprint #MarteaniArt
My hand holding up a small lino plate of a partially carved crow, holding a diamond necklace in its mouth.
Alright, I think this is all the tiny carving I can do for the night. The other 3 plates are finished. Friday is printing day. #MarteaniArt #linoprint
A small lino of a screaming opossum, the teeth partially carved. Her head is no bigger than my pasty thumb, which is included for scale.
Those 1mm chisels are coming in handy. #linoprint #MarteaniArt
4 small grey lino blocks with various stages of vermin drawn on in pencil and pen. From top right, going clockwise, a pigeon with a bleeding heart, a rat eyeing an acorn, a screaming opossum holding a sword, and crow covered in jewels.
Hello new followers. Since it seems the opposite drawing bright you here, here is a more complete collection of the vermin totem project. #MarteaniArt #linoprint
A white pigeon basilisk printed on black fabric.
First batch tested with Speedball fabric block printing ink. I didn't love working with it, but I can't tell if it's the fabric or the medium yet. Next batch I'm testing my Cranfield safe wash ink, which is meant for paper but I've heard gets good results on fabric. #MarteaniArt #LinoPrint
A rubber block with a pigeon basilisk inelegantly carved on it, next to a pile of cut up rubber bits.
I had to do a lot of cutting and I'm still not sure I'll get a usable print out of it. #MarteaniArt #linoblock #linoprint
A grey rubber print black with a graphite transfer image of a pigeon basilisk.
Working on a new print block. This will be an experiment. #MarteaniArt #linoprint
A cropped drawing of nude woman with dark hair, staring forward sultrily and biting her fingertip.

Revolutionary Girl Utena in modified black, red, and gold armor climbs the white spiral staircase towards the unseen castle, hidden past the blue sky. She carries a sword in her right hand, her left over her heart. Red rose petals swirl in the air, a field of roses in the forground.
Juri Arisigawa stands in the darkness. She wears an ornate fencing uniform, the sleeves decorated with lions and roses. The neck and chest are open, she pulls at a locket. It's clutched in her hand, crushing a rose, blood dripping. Behind her a vast moon is rising above a glittering body of water. An empty bench, and a field of ghostly blue roses.
Touga Kiryuu floats in water that is rapidly overwhelming him. His uniform is disintegrating, the jacket floating away. On his bare chest, a white moth sits over his heart. His hands have become skeletal, and in his boney fingers he stares at a red rose with a ghostly blue outline. His sword, a set of keys, and a ring fall into the depths below.
The Utena Tarot project is officially cancelled, but I still really like the work I did for it. Bonus points of you can guess the cards. #MarteaniArt #tarot #Utena
5 minute draw what you're wearing. This is my "go work at the library" outfit. #MarteaniArt
Black nail file case next to 3 POSCA paint pens I'm black, red, and gold.
The same nail file case, now with a red and gold sword in a scabbard drawn on, next to the same pens plus a gold sharpie.
Grabbed a fistful of POSCA on my way out so I could doodle on my new nail file. The gold didn't want to take to the plastic so I used a sharpie. #MarteaniArt
A print on red paper of a black frolicking goat, flanked by tree stumps and leafy plants. White mushrooms grow from the ground and stumps, and white ribbons twine around the goat, ending in bows on his horns.
Merry crimbus to all.
