It has taken twenty years for us to shepherd this project to near-completion. I am hopeful that Massachusetts’ new focus on multiuse path trail networks will help to accelerate other projects and link them together more quickly.

In October Jessica and I went to the Golden Spike trails conference and previewed a ten-mile stretch of the MassCentral Railtrail that is now under construction between Wayland and Hudson. This trail will eventually connect 104 miles from Boston to Northampton.
