I had a very productive and candid conversation with #MasseyCommission Co-chair Joanne Johnson y'day.

As you may know, the Sangamon County Board is highly partisan and the Repub majority has rejected one of our first recommendations, which would support recall elections for office of Sheriff.

I will be posting more regular updates regarding my work on the #MasseyCommission here, as well as my interactions with local politics. Here in Springfield, things have been more chaotic and disheartening than ever since Sonya’s murder. I continue to fight.

The next meeting of the Massey Commission is Monday, 11.18.

The first action of the Massey Commission was to request a thorough investigation of the Sangamon County’s Sheriff’s Department. This morning, the news is that the DOJ has opened a civil rights investigation.
