I've made some progress on the yoke with the freshwater pearls. #HistoricDress #Making #MaterialEngagement #CreativePracticeResearch BTW, the colour is different IRL, the red has less of a blue tint. I find it impossible to take photos of reds, especially fabric.

I made this lacing cord and found making it so tedious I still haven't made a second one, and I definitley need two. ๐Ÿ˜† The deadline is looming (and it's only been 5 years since) #MaterialEngagement

Split photo with the left half looking down into a black bucket full of fabric steeping in yellow dye. On the right, draped over the kitch faucet of an incidentally yellow glass kitchen sink (I love my crazy kitchen sink!) is the dyed fabric, all wet and crinkly. The fabric is silk but looks pretty messy in that state.

Re-creating medieval clothes: c.1350 example of colours, sleeves and buttonholes. With medieval clothing colours being not subtle nor matched (if one could afford it) I wanted a bright yellow silk as facings for the blue wool cote. Thus I dyed some ivory leftover silk. #MaterialEngagement ๐Ÿงต 1/6
