A boy sits wrapped in a towel after swimming in the sea. He sits among rocks which fill the foreground bottom quarter of the picture. Beyond him the foreshore is dominated by an eroded sand-coloured sea stack with a few scrubby trees on top of it. The sky is blue with a little cloud around the edges. In the background the sea extends to the horizon on the left and cliffs on the right, in which we can make out the large cave that gives the cove its English language name. Above the boy and in front of the sea stack, two gulls chase through the air.
