I kind of wish I did #MedPeds now, not just because every #MedPeds doctor I've met is awesome, but also because I'd feel less useless. (Like, I feel guilty being another doctor in a critically understaffed specialty because I can't help you all with the fatal disease that is RFK Jr.)

haha I don't think these #AI - generated #recruiting e-mails are functional enough to even know what a #MedPeds doc is 😂 yes, both #MedPeds and #FamilyMedicine could accomplish this feat, but interestingly, those specialties are not mentioned in their qualifications 😂

The general sense I've gotten is #emergencymedicine (like #medpeds, which isn't even on this list because there are essentially no IMGs in it, too few to count) is just not a thing outside the US and developed western countries (and few from say, Australia, are moving to US for obvious reasons)

Interesting. Wondering how this affects peds-adjacent specialties (read #MedPeds), and what it will do for inpatient specialties (especially Heme/Onc, among the last of the subspecialties that hasn't given up their inpatient services)

My salary is way less than it could be bc I’m in academics and 50% comes from peds

There are specialists on both sides who think I’m an overpaid resident

But they all call me when a patient has more than one problem and I genuinely like my job, so I’m not going anywhere

#MedPeds here! This, and make Med-Peds training equivalent to a PHM board certification!

Two solutions that would bring back #MedPeds trained #doctors as well as increase #Pediatrics workforce:
1) pay #Pediatricians exactly same as adult medicine doctors for identical work (eg pediatric vs adult hospitalists)
2) provide same respect as IM doctors (which isn’t much, but more than Peds)

Does #MedPeds get double counted?

(Not surprising), but apparently adult #Endocrine is (slightly) lower than #Geriatrics? Did not expect that. And shout out to the #MedPeds docs who still practice both medicine and pediatrics, because they take a significant pay cut to still take care of kids

Make people aware that #MedPeds exists?

Important topic for those of us who are #MedPeds!!!

Really interesting; #3 re MDI being worse for the environment over DPI is new to me.

As #medpeds with the flovent debacle of 2024 i spend a lot of time telling insurance why MDI are better for kids under 12 who have worse outcomes with DPI.

Will be nice to consider the flip side for my adults.

#MedPeds is a dual specialty offering comprehensive care to patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors.

The balance of both adult and child patient care within the same practice appeals to many doctors, but there are a limited number of residency positions.
