#MeetsStandards
Apple streetview of three lanes of southbound Rockville Pike, approaching the below-grade uncontrolled marked crosswalk across the slip lane to MD 28, next to the unbuffered narrow sidewalk where you're smushed between fast-moving drivers on one side and the Americana Centre wall on the other, just south of the Rockville Metro Station.
A pedestrian, passing by: "They could mount the stop sign from the wall so drivers can see it."
Probably ❌ #MeetsStandards tho.🤷

#MeetsStandards
Probably 100% of people who have made more than one safety request to a DOT have received the ✅ #MeetsStandards response at least once.
Person: This intersection design is deadly.
DOT response: ✅ #MeetsStandards
An asphalt sidepath next to a two-lane state highway, approaching an intersection. The sidepath is separated from the road by a concrete curb. The sidepath jogs to the right. At that point, a painted bike lane appears in the road, along with a right-turn-only lane. There is a sign that says "begin right turn lane, yield to bikes". For people on bicycles to get from the sidepath to the painted bike lane, they would have to bump down the concrete curb, in the mixing area for drivers moving to the right turn lane.
The northbound four lanes of New Hampshire Avenue, with 40 mph speed limit (used to be 50), and a painted bike lane on the curb side. The sidewalk here is buffered.
The paint-only "bike lanes" are from narrowing lanes to slow driver speeds (which is good). Then it's "Oh look, the leftover space is wide enough for ✔️ #MeetsStandards for a bike lane, let's put in a stencil and some signs and call it a bike lane."
Blurry photo of four children on kick scooters on a winter afternoon, at a four-way intersection in an area with houses with yards and driveways. The street is wide. There are buffered sidewalks on both sides. The photo caption is "Photo 5. Students on non-motorized scooters".
This intersection is 900 feet from Greenwood ES. There is a school crossing guard. A driver hit a school bus on 3/23/23. At the site visit on 1/14/25, "4 students were observed riding [kick] scooters to cross the intersection...from south to north."
But MCDOT says ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, ✔️ #MeetsStandards.
A complicated offset double T intersection. A bus stop is on the east side of the south T intersection, the corresponding bus stop is on the west side of the north T intersection. The main road is a seven lane divided stroad with a median crossover for the south T intersection. The planned HAWK signal is across the stroad on the south side of the south T intersection.
Agreed that a HAWK signal at this intersection would be bananapants for everyone. Something something #MeetsStandards something?
The point is
