When I was researching the history of Exford and the White Horse Hotel, I was surprised, and delighted, to discover a connection with Rosalind Franklin. I hadn't come across this before, so that was a special moment during the writing of #MemoriesFromTheFuture.

Very pleased with my new advert on the cover of the latest Somerset and Dorset Family History Society's quarterly magazine. I'm hoping that some members discover that their ancestors' stories made it into #MemoriesFromTheFuture.

Both Hilary and Arthur managed to climb to the summit of Dunkery Beacon. For Arthur, it was an easy stroll from the track. Hilary walked from her hotel in Exford and was caught in a downpour.

So pleased that the Portuguese coin Hilary spotted in Lynton’s museum will still be there after the refurbishment. The person who emailed actually found the coin! That was such a surprising connection with Hilary and Arthur’s treasure hunt around Exmoor.

In Minehead's Plume of Feathers Arthur meets the driver of a very smart car. What would his wife think if he suggested spending the royalties from his next book on such an extravagance? Maybe if he solved Bertie's puzzle at Burgundy Chapel, she'd agree?

In #MemoriesFromTheFuture, Hilary meets visitors who have travelled on the heritage railway from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. They had taken videos and the sound of the train clattering along, the whistle being blown and the excited chatter of the passengers made it very enticing

When Arthur visits Exmoor, his eye is taken by the number of monkey puzzle trees that have been planted, including those outside the town hall in Lynton. More than a hundred years later, Hilary realises why there might be so many in the area.

Thatched cottage with a thatched lower level. A window has a thatched 'roof'. There is a tall chimney and the building is whitewashed. In the far distance is a small cottage, built to a similar design. Either side of the nearest and in the far background are trees and shrubs. A narrow light-coloured path passes the front of the main cottage. The thatch is a light brown colour.

In Minehead, Arthur enjoys some locally made 'iced fancies'. A hundred years later, Hilary finds a connection to the treats and the tea room at nearby Selworthy. What does she do? Hilary has a cream tea, of course!
