For the first time in quite a while, here's some character design on a personal project, Merrymen. I had some old stuff on this project but I wanted to give it a fresh lick of paint and try doing it via CSP, which I've been practicing on for manga stuff! #Merrymen #characterdesign

One of my favorite aspects of the #RobinHood tales is the fellowship of interesting outlaws who band together. Characters like Much the Miller's Son, Will Scathlok/Scarlet, and Little John are right there by Robin's side in the earliest known ballads.

On Discord we were discussing how much #LittleJohn has become known for having a proper beard. It's a handy visual signifier when most other #MerryMen are clean shaven or neatly trimmed, but also lets storytellers lean into the wildman archetype that harkens back to Enkidu's friendship w/ Gilgamesh.
