Today we remember Private Frederick Duffield of the #9thLancers #BEF Killed in action 111 years ago today as the Germans took #Messines in late 1914. We had the honour in taking his descendants their family and friends on his great war journey in our early days.
A brilliant 2nd day with our group from #NorthernIreland, with stops amongst others at the wonderful #PondFarm, then to #Messines firstly to discuss Oct 1914 & then following the story of the #Ulstermen in June 1917. Then it was onto the #Ploegsteert area to talk truces! Now some dinner & menin gate

What a amazing day with our #Australian guests! A morning following a 5x Grt Grandfather at #Waterloo, then onto #Ploegsteert Wood for another relative, then #Messines before placing them at the original burial site of the 2 brothers who fell there, now on the #MeninGate.
